The Sierra Nevada Alliance has been protecting and restoring Sierra land, water, wildlife and communities since 1993. The Alliance unites hundreds of individuals and groups behind a common goal of protecting and restoring the natural values of the Sierra Nevada for future generations while promoting sustainable communities. The Sierra Nevada Alliance is leading the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP) program. The program’s mission is to assess and restore impaired watershed habitats and to increase community stewardship of Sierra Nevada watersheds through education and volunteerism. Each year the program places, trains, and supports twenty-seven AmeriCorps members who serve with different Sierra Nevada conservation organizations and agencies to conduct watershed assessment and restoration, watershed education, and volunteer recruitment in the Sierra Nevada.
Title: SNAP Regional Coordinator (half-time position).
Location: South Lake Tahoe, CA.
Position Description: The SNAP Regional Coordinator is responsible for assisting the SNAP Director and other staff in supporting the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership program. The SNAP program provides training and mentorship to AmeriCorps Members who serve in an 11 month program. The Regional Coordinator will regionally coordinate with a number of AmeriCorps Members and site partners to complete program goals. The Regional Coordinator will also co-organize trainings, handle AmeriCorps basic administration, help coordinate the overall SNAP program, and assist in the recruitment and selection process for SNAP members and host sites.
Responsibilities and Activities:.
* Staying abreast of Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps partner activities throughout the Sierra.
* Maintaining consistent lines of communication and working relationships with a network of partner groups and AmeriCorps Members focused on Sierra conservation.
* Developing educational and training materials for the program.
* Helping organize workshops, trainings, tours and other events.
* Conducting partner site visits and evaluations.
* Managing and supporting site partners and members to complete program goals.
* Assisting in training SNAP Team Leaders and coordinating their efforts.
* Collecting member reports and writing monthly and other periodic program reports.
* Assisting in recruitment and selection of SNAP members.
* Assisting with program fundraising including event organizing.
* Working with SNAP Director to prepare work plans and identify program needs.
* Filing and maintaining SNAP member and site records
* Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications.
* Ability to work well with local conservation leaders, statewide advocates, and local government staff.
* Administrative skills and ability to keep records and generate reports.
* Experience organizing events, facilitating groups, recruiting and maintaining volunteers.
* Demonstrated ability to manage volunteers and/or staff
* Capacity to manage projects and/or programs. Ability to layout work tasks, identify resources to complete projects, leverage human and financial resources, focus his/her own work, complete tasks on time, on budget and of a high quality.
* Persuasive writing and editing skills and experience developing public information materials.
* Public speaking and telephone skills
* Independent, highly motivated, able to work under pressure with frequent deadlines and limited supervision.
* Passion for the Sierra’s natural environment and grassroots groups.
* Proficiency using personal computers and the Internet
* Ability to travel throughout California with a valid driver’s license for up to 20% time.
* Interest in natural resources and/or environmental issues.
* Willing to locate to the South Lake Tahoe area.
* Ability to lift 25 pounds.
* Ability to do keyboard entry up to 6 hours a day.
Bonus Qualifications.
* Experience with AmeriCorps programs.
* Demonstrated ability to manage volunteers and/or staff in the field.
* Ability to build and facilitate a network of leaders.
* Experience in mediating personnel conflicts.
* Familiarity with the Sierra.
Compensation/Benefits: Half-time position with evening and weekend meetings. Salary will range from $17,000-19,000 dependent on experience and qualification. This position reports to the SNAP Director. This position does accrue 40 hours of vacation a year, accrues 0.5 sick days a month, and receives paid holidays when holidays occur on scheduled work days. No health or dental benefits are provided.
